Slowly, this shift ( from a deficit to a strength-based paragidm) is making profound inroads in different fields, from management to education, from psychology to health care – starting with the premise that, as human beings, we are not problems waiting to be solved, but potential waiting to unfold.
Frederic Laloux, „Reinventing Organizations“
Nothing fuels the productivity of an organisation as much as good teamwork.
During the phases of team evolution, different needs arise. Whether they are forming, storming, norming or performing, it is possible to boost the team’s potential by creating identity, undoing social knots and finding transparent ways to share responsibility. Especially for the first three stages of team evolution, meaningful team building can „sharpen the ax before felling trees“.
Nevertheless, performing teams also benefit from some shared time off to reconnect and to stay motivated.
Energising teams
I am looking forward to listening in and providing impulses based on your needs, incorporating experience from consulting and models and methods from my degree course for psychological coaching.
Forming phase
Your team has been newly formed or has a significant number of new employees. They don’t have a shared vision yet of what they want to stand for or how they should work together. Create a basis on which your team can build with:
- A kick-off session to boost identification
Storming phase
Your team members are starting to show their personalities, voicing opinions more openly. Subgroups may form and conflicts or friction may arise. Improve the interactions in your team with:
- A communication awareness workshop to enable constructive interactions
- A diversity awareness workshop to enhance the value of perspectives
- A delegation workshop for shared responsibilities
Norming phase
Each team member is aware of their role in the team, and while conflict may occur, differences are perceived as opportunities to improve rather than as social discomfort. Leverage the maturity of your team to openly interact in:
- A team retrospective workshop to celebrate success and to uncover potential
- A motivator workshop to assess the impact (both benefits and risks) of an upcoming change
